Call-Out for Volunteers for Venus' Playground @ Folsom Street Fair
I have had the opportunity over time to be involved in a number of ways in our community. One of the tings I'm involved in now is as a member of the organizing committee for Venus' Playground, the area of Folsom Street Fair dedicated for those who identify (or have in the past) as women, as trans, or as genderqueer. My responsibility this year is to look for volunteers, which are super important for the operation of the fair, so this is where I ask for your help. Below are the times of each of the shifts, what we need people doing, and how many people we need per shift. Please get back to me ASAP if you're interested in helping out. The day of the fair (which will be Sunday, 9/25) is when we're especially looking for people's help. Venus' Playground will be open from 11 am-5 pm and we'll be needing help for the following tasks and at the following times: * Five people to help with set up. You'll need to be on site by 7 am, and setup should end by 11 am, which is when the fair will be open. * Six trained dungeon monitors. The shifts are each two hours in length and we're looking for two people per shift. * Four people to help with making sure people sign waivers. These shifts are three hour shifts and we're looking for two people per shift. * Four people to help with security. Folsom will have their own security folks for overall fair security. The people I'm looking for will only be responsible for securing the VP area. These are three hour shifts and we're looking for two people per shift. * Five people to help with tear down once the fair concludes. They should be preparing to clean up by 4:45 pm and it should end no later than 7:30 pm. People volunteering for tear down should be able to lift heavy stuff. If anybody is interested and able to help out with any of these needs, please e-mail me @ alecs.c@gmail.com. | | Thursday, November 11th, 2010 | 1:02 am [charliegrrrl]

"The Greedy Pig Battles the Green-eyed Monster" with Lolita Wolf "The Greedy Pig Battles the Green-eyed Monster" with Lolita Wolf
At CSC, 1519 Mission Thursday, April 15 -- NOTE THE TIME: 6-7:30 pm $12-25 sliding scale
Jealousy can destroy a poly relationship. Feelings of insecurity and fear of abandonment lead to toxic behaviors which in turn make relationships less intimate. We’ll look at strategies to discern what’s real and what’s perceived. And we’ll examine techniques that help combat jealousy with the security of love, structure and trust. Lolita Wolf discovered the BDSM scene back in the late 80's when “online” meant being on the phone sex lines. She is an activist who defends the sexual freedom for all consenting adults, spreads the word about BDSM, sex and poly, and helps the community grow and flourish. Yet, her goal remains "to have fun." Lolita has many specialties including bondage, impact play of all sorts, hot wax, fire play, poly relationships, social skills, communication and negotiation, CBT, violet wands, etc. Lolita has presented workshops for organizations and events across the country. She is well-known for a fun and entertaining style that packs a lot of information into a short class. Lolita is an Emeritus Board Member of of both TES and Leather Leadership Conference. She is a former Chair of Lesbian Sex Mafia, an honorary member of GMSMA and an Associate Member of New York boys of Leather. She is active with National Coalition for Sexual Freedom and Leather Pride Night. Her writing has appeared in On Our backs and Prometheus magazines and she has authored two books : Spanking and CBT in a Nutshell. Recently, she was featured in the New York Times One in 8 Million series: http://vb.ly/255f Her website can be found at http://leatheryenta.com | | Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 | 4:24 pm [charliegrrrl]

We Need Your Help
The full newsletter is available at http://www.mynewsletterbuilder.com/email/newsletter/1410230097 with all of the links. Here is the body of the message for you. Shelly Edges (our community dungeon and education space) in Santa Clara, CA faces potential closure within 120 days due to planning department requirements. As a condition of being granted the correct permit to allow assemblage on premises Edges needs to complete a CEQA report. There are only eight companies approved to do this for Santa Clara's planning department and cost will be around $20,000. Additionally there may be other safety requirements for the space once this report is done so the funding needs could easily double for material, as well as funds needed to keep the space operating if they close us during this period. The owners of Edges have been working with the planning dept for several months now to try and waive the need for this report without success. At a planning meeting last Wednesday the owners were granted a stay of 120 days to provide the report and prove all findings. Fundraising has already started with nearly $3000 in donations and many initiatives being planned. But we cannot order the study until we secure all of the necessary funds, which means a very small window! Is there any reason you cannot help? You can help with or without funds or hands-on volunteer time. Here are some great starting points: Come to Edges events and play parties at the space, there will be a donation jar on the front desk, thermometer to help us tally, and even a couple of $ helpers. If you are unable to attend, encourage your friends to go and show a supportive smile. Check out upcoming events on our calendar Donate monetarily: Cash, money orders or checks can be dropped through the front door slot or the mail box behind the desk. Suitcases filled with cash must be unmarked bills and cuffed directly to a staff member. Make donations to South Bay Productions or Edges. Send snail mail to our address. Donations online can be made with your debit or credit card AND you can set up recurring donations for as often as you like, for whatever amount you like ($5 every week, $20 every two weeks, $100 a month, etc) It is also helpful if you renew or upgrade your membership online here. You can view a full membership matrix with details here. Come to the fundraising meeting at Edges on Tues 16th March at 8pm, event details on the Fetlife event page Sign up for the Edges Newsletter and share it with others: keep up with what is going on and help us to get the word out! Share our link to purchase magazines and cookie dough to raise money! Just be sure to use the link below. Send to friends, neighbors, co-workers, family: completely "Vanilla Safe". Encourage them to purchase birthday gifts in advance, to give themselves a small treat, or just simply to show they care about what you care! Purchase a subscription for yourself or as a gift for friends/co-workers/family. Send this link to others & encourage their support If you are a group or organization and want to run your own fundraiser to help please contact MissAli with details! Every little bit counts. Perhaps your event can donate admission tickets for us to raffle. Perhaps your local playspace can host an Edges Play party with proceeds donated to saving Edges. Or perhaps you know friends that can help! ** Please cross post to groups/friends nation-wide and further! ** Thank you, from the entire Edges family Watch for Updates Email Edges Directly Edges on Fetlife: Join the Conversation Miss Ali/Edges on Twitter | | Sunday, January 31st, 2010 | 7:59 pm [bellaballanda]

SB TNG Presents Pimps and Hos at Edges - This Saturday!
Come on out and stroll the seedy streets! SB TNG presents Pimps and Hos, a party where you can let your wild side out for a walk. Use the entire dungeon space to pick up lady (or gentleman) of the night. Take them into a dark corner and have your way with them. Take a turn as a pimp and make sure your hos are out working hard and bringing the cash home. Punish them for losing customers or reward them for bringing in the best johns (or janes). Collect the most hos as possible to increase your debauchery. In fact, be the best pimp at the party, collect the most "pimp cash," and win a prize. Saturday, February 6th 8pm-1am (doors close at 11pm). $20 for members I hope to see everyone there! | | Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 | 9:02 pm [br0ken_dolly]

sexeh boots?
I have a visiting friend who has lost her awesome PVC boots, and I wondered if there were any bay area (SF or East Bay) spots that are awesome for such items? (We've hit Mr. S already but I don't know where else to go.) Incidentally, she's a straight-sized gal (and would have luck anywhere that sold boots), but I'm plus-sized, so if there's a place where we could BOTH go, or just a separate place that might have wide-calf black PVC boots, that'd be pretty awesome, too. | | Friday, January 1st, 2010 | 9:50 pm [bellaballanda]

Have something to share?
Happy New Year! Kate and myself, the co-leaders South Bay TNG (www.sbtng.com), are in the midst of setting the SB TNG meeting schedule for the year, and we need your help. We're looking for presenters for our upcoming meetings. We meet on the 1st Sunday of the month from 2-4pm. We alternate between discussion meetings and instruction/demo meetings. While we are not able to pay our instructors or discussion leaders, we see ourselves as a place for people to volunteer skills or test out new ideas/concepts/formats. It's our goal to give TNG aged presenters a safe place to get their feet wet, but we are open to the information that anyone in the greater community might want to come and share with us as well. So is there something you're good at that you want to teach/demonstrate to others? Is there a topic that you're really interested in talking about and you'd be willing to lead the discussion on it? If so, or you'd like more information about SBTNG and how to get involved, e-mail us at sbtng@edges.biz and we'll look to get your on our calendar this year! Thanks! SF Citadel presents: Untying Gender- a peer facilitated workshop about gender
Date: Tuesday, October 27, 2009 Time: 08:00 PM to 10:00 PM Where: SF Citadel Address: 1277 Mission Street (Between 8th and 9th streets) Cost: $20 Dress Code: Casual is just fine Description SF Citadel presents: Untying Gender - a peer facilitated workshop about gender Tuesday October 27, 8-10pm (Doors open 7:30pm) For many people, a trip to the local dungeon isn't just about going for a play date, or checking out hot scenes. Many people see their neighborhood playspace as a break from their confining daily lives, and somewhere that allows them to to be exactly who they are with people who appreciate them that way. However, sometimes people whose gender identity or presentation doesn't conform to social norms can have trouble feeling at ease in these spaces. Through the sharing of commonly used gender-related vocabulary, personal stories, and helpful resources, we hope to begin the process of making the public dungeon a place where everyone feels welcome. ***A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit DJ Mystic-Moods to assist him in his ongoing recovery from a motorcycle accident.*** Moderator Bio: Alecs (aka: sailor) is genderqueer, increasingly female-identified service-submissive, masochist, and adult little who can regularly be seen at both parties and events held at the Citadel, as well as other kinky or LGBT-related events in the Bay Area. She has been in the lifestyle in varying degrees for about seven years and is currently in training under her ma'am Miss Lola. When not in kink spaces, she's an avid blogger and artist and works in youth services. | | Monday, September 21st, 2009 | 11:32 am [rhiannonstone]

BDSM 101 at UC Berkeley
I'm presenting my first on-campus BDSM 101 workshop of the year on Thursday evening, in advance of the Folsom Street Fair. I know that most of you have probably advanced beyond the 101 level, but if you want to come out and show your support for Cal's kinky contingent, or bring curious friends or lovers, here are the details: What: BDSM 101 When: Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 PM Where: The Section Club Room on the 1st floor of the Tang Center, UC Berkeley
What does it mean to be kinky? Is it always about pain? What's a flogger? What's a switch? And what's with all the half-naked leather people walking around San Francisco on the last Sunday in September?
Come get all your kinky questions answered, just in time for the Folsom Street Fair next Sunday! We'll cover the whys and hows of BDSM, have a kinky sex toy show-and-tell, and teach you how to talk about and safely explore your own fantasies.
This event is open to the campus and surrounding community, so bring your friends and lovers. And since it's at dinnertime, feel free to bring something to nibble on, too (besides your friends and lovers). Current Mood: excited | | Monday, August 31st, 2009 | 10:48 pm [ladyhilary]

How does gender and gender identity come into play in an ageplay dynamic?
